  • Major indices moved lower over the past day, led by emerging markets. EEM posted the largest decline, falling 1.07%, followed by the Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJIA), which lost 0.85%. Crude oil (CL) was the lone bright spot, gaining 2.75% on the day. Despite the near-term rebound, oil prices remain well below their recent highs, underscoring the broader downtrend in the commodity.
  • Technology rebounded after three consecutive sell signals. The Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) gained 5.46% over the past week and completed a bullish signal reversal at $182, reflecting renewed strength in the sector.
  • The S&P 500 continues to show broad market strength. The index completed a triple-top breakout at 7,600 and is now up more than 12% year-to-date. S&P 500 Index Funds also remain ranked second on the asset class group scores page, reinforcing the group's strong relative performance.
  • Healthcare showed notable improvement over the past week. The sector gained three signals in our DALI sector rankings, highlighting renewed momentum in traditionally defensive areas of the market. Within the asset class group scores, biotechnology ranks first with an average score of 4.91.
  • Cooling labor market data reduced expectations for additional Fed tightening. Following the July employment report, which showed nonfarm payrolls declined by 23,000, the probability of a rate hike in September fell from above 55% to 40%, reflecting growing expectations for a more accommodative policy outlook.
