  • The strongest performer among the major asset classes on September 16 was gold (GC/), which advanced 1.27%. Equity market performance was mixed, with the Nasdaq-100 (NDX) gaining 0.02%, while the Russell 2000 Index (RUT) and S&P 500 (SPX) declined 0.40% and 0.45%, respectively.
  • The Fed raised its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to a target range of 3.75% to 4.0%, citing persistently high inflation and signaling that another rate increase may be possible before year-end. Current odds for an Oct. 28, 2026 rate hike sits at 50.9%.
  • After reversing down into Os last week, the percent positive for the S&P 500 (^PTSPX) has continued to move lower, demonstrating a decrease in long-term participation. Still, the indicator maintains a chart level above 50%.
  • In the DALI asset class rankings, the commodities asset class has gained 53 signals since the start of the month, demonstrating strong relative improvement. Still, the asset class ranks firmly in third place behind domestic equities and international equities.
  • On the earnings front, two major companies are expected to report later this month: Micron Technology Inc. (MU 5/5 TA Score), Costco Wholesale Corporation (COST 3/5 TA Score).
  • Yesterday’s research piece (9/15) describes stocks in the Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJIA) with strong and weak technical attribute (TA) scores. As of 9/15, there are 19 stocks in the Dow Jones with a TA score of 3 or higher, and 11 stocks with a TA score of 2 or less.
