Weekly rundown with NDW analyst team covering all major asset classes.
In recent weeks, our reports have highlighted leadership within International Equities and the broadening of positive evidence. While European equities have been the stalwart of the asset class for much of 2025, other regions like Africa/the Middle East and Latin America have not only shown improvement in price but on a relative strength basis as well. Relative to other regions like Asia-Pacific, where leadership within the region has been narrower, Latin America has provided recent fodder for the asset class.
Within the NDW DALI International Equity rankings, Latin America has climbed from last place at the beginning of April up to 4th (out of 6) at the expense of Asia-Pacific region. While Latin America has shown relative improvement against other regions within DALI, the improvement hasn’t simply just been relative as the Asset Class Group Scores (ACGS) page notes the group's trend and relative improvement.
As of Monday’s (6/16) close, Latin America scores just below the 4-score threshold – a level in which a group shows notable leadership. After falling as low as 0.50 at the end of 2024, the Latin American group has climbed to 3.98 to mark its highest score in more than 12 months. A move above the 4-score threshold would add Latin America to a strong contingent of international groups leading within the Asset Class Group Scores page that includes region/country groups like Middle East Africa, Europe, Pacific Basin, Frontier Markets, and Japan. Additionally, the broader Non-US, Global & International Value, Global & International Blend, Emerging Markets Diversified, Global Developed Markets, and All Global & International Diversified all currently score above the 4 threshold, making roughly 2/3rds of the groups being international equity related.
Given the few options available for exposure within some of these international groups like Africa and the Middle East, Latin American leadership provides additional options for those seeking to increase exposure to the broader asset class.
As the market prices in a Fed rate cut in September, long-duration fixed income groups still lack the relative strength to be an option for income and price appreciation. That’s why we thought today would be an opportune time to update the check-a-month strategy which can be a useful tool for supplementing portfolio yield via high dividend equities.
The check-a-month strategy involves buying a group of high-yielding, quarterly-dividend-paying stocks with dividend payment dates spread across the quarter so that the client receives a dividend check(s) each month.
When building a check-a-month portfolio, it is essential to select not only high-yielding stocks but also stocks with a healthy technical picture to better stack the odds of future outperformance in your favor. After all, your client won't be impressed with their 3% yield if the market value of their portfolio drops by 15%. Looking only at dividend yield, we found that there are 122 stocks in the S&P 500 with a dividend yield of 3% or higher. However, when we narrow our search using a technical overlay, we are left with 21 stocks. A list of all the criteria we inputted in the Security Screener tool is below:
- S&P 500 Universe
- Price = >$10
- Trend = Positive
- P&F Signal = Buy
- Technical Attributes = 3+
- Dividend Yield > 3%
You will find all 21 names in the table below categorized into three groups based on their usual dividend payment schedule.
Early Quarter Dividend Payout (January, April, July, October)
Mid-Quarter Dividend Payout (February, May, August, November)
Late Quarter Dividend Payout (March, June, September, December)
MO Altria Group Inc. ($58.83) – Food Beverages/Soap – MO is rated as a buy with four out of five technical attributes in its favor. MO is the highest yielding stock on our list with a yield of 6.81% and one of the most technically sound. MO has traded in a positive trend for over a year and is two boxes away from marking a new multi-year high. MO has multiple support levels offered from $49 to $57 and is actionable at current levels with a weekly overbought/oversold reading of 3%.
WMB Williams Companies Inc. ($59.15) – Gas Utilities – WMB is rated as a strong buy with five out of five technical attributes in its favor. WMB has carved out a ten-point range since the start of the year and is now testing resistance at all-time highs. WMB trades on two consecutive buy signals and a move to $62 would break a spread triple top. WMB offers a yield of 3.35% and has been in a positive trend since 2020.

NDW Spotlight Stock
COST Costco Wholesale Corporation ($978.76) R - Retailing - COST has a 5 for 5 TA rating and sits in the top half of the favored retailing sector RS matrix. The stock has also maintained an RS buy signal since 2007, highlighting the long-term technical strength. The recent market action has seen COST pullback from a rally high, offering a more opportune entry point for potential ling investors. Exposure may be considered in the mid-$900s to low $1000s. Our initial stop will be positioned at $792, which would violate multiple support levels on the default chart. The bullish price objective of $1296 will serve as our price target.

BKR Baker Hughes Company ($39.65) - Oil Service - BKR gave an initial buy signal Tuesday when it broke a triple top at $40. The move adds to a modestly positive technical picture as BKR is a 3 for 5'er but ranks in the bottom half of the oil service sector matrix. From here, the next upside test for the stock is its bearish resistance line which currently sits at $42. |
EW Edwards Lifesciences Corporation ($73.33) - Healthcare - EW inched lower to break a double bottom at $74 and reach an intraday low below $73. The 3 for 5'er moved up from a 2 in April after moving into a positive trend in April. Additionally, EW ranks in the top quartile of the healthcare sector matrix. For those invested, you can continue to hold, but set an alert for any changes in EW's technical attribute score. Long exposure should be avoided for now, given the deteriorating technical picture. Initial strong resistance is at $78. |
LOAR Loar Holdings Inc. ($81.01) - Aerospace Airline - LOAR moved lower today, posting its second consecutive sell signal in the process. The stock re-entered a negative trend with recent action, violating a seemingly key support level in the process at $82. While it is still technically actionable by NDW standards with a TA score of 3/5, exercise caution. It is still up nearly 11% so far this year but is well off highs. Trim profitable positions lightly. |
ON On Semiconductor Corp. ($53.10) - Semiconductors - ON pushed higher Tuesday to break a double top at $55, notching a fourth consecutive buy signal. This 3 for 5'er moved back to a positive trend last week and continues to show near-term RS improvement. Initial support is seen at $51 with overhead resistance potentially seen at $57. |
VST Vistra Corp ($176.90) - Utilities/Electricity - VST broke a double top at $180 for a sixth consecutive buy signal since the latter part of April. The stock is a 4 for 5'er that ranks within the top quintile of the Electric Utilities sector matrix. This action brings the stock near the top of the 10-week trading band, so those seeking exposure will look for a pullback to the low $170 to low $160 range before considering. Initial support lies at $162, while additional can be found in the $150 range. |
