Analyst Commentary:
- The S&P 500 index was up 3.73% over the past week as large-cap and growth-related areas rebound. SPX finished November up 0.13% for its seventh consecutive positive month.
- Small caps stocks also rebounded over the past week, after experiencing some technical deterioration in the month of November. The Russell 2000 is up ~5% this week, demonstrating an increase in appetite for risk.
- The Healthcare sector continues to demonstrate notable strength, with sector fund XLV gaining over 9%, marking its best month since April 2020. Still, the sector’s strength remains mixed given its longer-term weakness.
- After moving away from all-time highs, Bitcoin has now rebounded slightly. The cryptocurrency crossed above 90,000 after moving up 5% over the past.
- Long-duration bonds improved on softer economic data and easing inflation, as December rate-cut expectations shifted to highly probable—creating potential tailwinds for fixed income and equities.
