Question: Correct Answer:
1 Identify the following patterns: There are some trick questions here. You can use the patterns/selections as many times as you think they apply.

O X X

O X O X O

O X O X O

O X O X O

O X O O

O O

O

The latest column of O's exceeds the previous column of O's which is a double bottom break.

X X X O X

X O X O X O X

X O X O X O

X O O

This pattern is a Bullish Catapult. A triple top was broken which was then followed by a double top break.

The stock rises to resistance three times. On the third try it is able to break through the resistance. It rose to resistance three times which is why it is called a triple top.

The correct pattern here is the Bearish Triangle. The pattern requires at least 5 columns which make a series of lower tops and higher bottoms. This forms the triangle. As the chart comes to a point it must break either up or down. In this case it breaks down which completes a bearish triangle.

The answer is a Double Top. The stock exceeds a previous column of X's, hence the name double top, and then pulls back on the chart. Until a sell signal is given, the stock remains on the Double Top buy signal.

This chart broke a double bottom. However, it followed two tops forming together and is now working a Shakeout formation. The action point in this pattern is the next reversal back to the upside.

This pattern is a Bearish Catapult. It is described as a chart that breaks a triple bottom, makes a lower top and then breaks a double bottom.

Bullish Triangle. The triangle pattern must have 5 columns making a series if lower tops and higher bottoms. In this case the stock resolved the pattern to the upside by breaking a double top.

Triple Bottom Break - This stock tested support three times and on the third test it broke the support. That's a triple bottom break.

No signal has been given yet. There have been no X's exceeding a previous column and no O's exceeding a previous column either. There is however, the potential for a quadruple bottom break.

Spread Triple Top Break - The stock has risen to resistance on three occasions. On the third test the stock was able to break through giving the triple top break. We call it a spread triple top break because the column of X's are not next to each other.

Bearish Signal Reversed - This pattern does not happen often but when it does it is typically a good one. It is formed when a stock makes a series of lower tops and bottoms that is at least 7 columns wide. The stock then rallies and breaks a double top reversing the series of lower tops. This must happen quickly without a period of consolidation.
13 Which pattern must have exceeded a previous column of X's by at least 3 boxes and must pull back at least 50 percent of that last up-thrust on the chart? The answer is the Bearish Triangle Pattern. The triangle pattern happens when a stock makes a series of higher bottoms and lower tops at the same time. This serves to form what looks exactly like a triangle. The triangle pattern will resolve itself on either the upside, a double top breakout, or the downside, a double bottom.
14 Which Pattern ideally has the following characteristics? The stock must be in a strong up trend. The stock should be trading above the Bullish Support Line. The stock must rise to a level where it forms two tops at the same price. The subsequent reversal of the stock from these two tops must give a Double Bottom sell signal. These are characteristics of a Shakeout formation.
15 To qualify as a Triangle, the pattern must have how many columns? In order for a Triangle pattern to form it must have at least 5 columns.
16 The combination of a Triple Top and a Double Top make up which pattern? The Bullish Catapult is created when a triple top is followed by a double top.
17 YES  Can the Bearish Catapult have any sell signals in the combination? The bearish catapult must have a triple bottom followed by a double bottom. While a double bottom followed by a triple bottom would also be a bearish configuration, it would not be a bearish catapult formation.
